So big poppa Diageo brings out yet another Distiller’s Edition, this one from their Lowland Distillery. And I get it: It’s annoying that we get one or two dangled in front of us.
Which is too bad. I think Lowland has the ability to really bridge whisky nerds and people who just drink smooth whisky. Because it can be subtle as heck, have interesting flavours, and impress us. If there was any on the market.
Granted, they do like to make single grain whisky, and that takes many years to develop interesting flavours… so perhaps it’s a money issue. Oh well.
Glenkinchie Distiller’s Edition 1996 is the usual juice from Glenkinchie, yet it’s been finished in Amontillado Sherry casks, and aged 2-4 years longer…
