Bunnahabhain 8 Gordon & MacPhail The MacPhail’s Collection

Thanks to /u/tishpickle for this sample. Welcome to my ongoing series, “Bunna-have you any more sir?”, in which I go through my backlog of way, WAY too many Bunnahabhains and review them. So I’m hunting for a Bunnahabhain that either blows me away or lets me down. It’s the extremes, what with living in North America and the late 2010’s, which I only understand. Yes, I know… Continue reading Bunnahabhain 8 Gordon & MacPhail The MacPhail’s Collection

Bunnahabhain Mòine Oloroso

Thanks to /u/Davyj0ne5 for this sample. Welcome to my ongoing series, “Bunna-have you any more sir?”, in which I go through my backlog of way, WAY too many Bunnahabhains and review them. So what do we know so far: Bunnahabhain is, according to a bunch of whisky nerds, is never amazing, yet always consistently good. Speaking of consistency, the next whisky is Bunnahabhain Mòine Oloroso. And what makes the… Continue reading Bunnahabhain Mòine Oloroso

Linkwood 15 Gordon & MacPhail

Linkwood 15 Years Old Speyside bottled by Gordon & MacPhail, 43% ABV, $125 CAD. Nose: Honey, peach, pear, apricot, Sweetish Berries candy, citrus, chocolate, and a delicious malt note. Taste: Honeycomb, chocolate, floral, melon, a candy sweetness, and again that really nice malt. Finish: Long, spicy, light cinnamon and chocolate. Thoughts: Very impressive! The malt note that runs throughout the whisky is perfect. Really good … Continue reading Linkwood 15 Gordon & MacPhail

Bunnahabhain 8 2007 Hepburn’s Choice Single Cask

Welcome to my new ongoing series, “Bunna-have you any more sir?”, in which I go through my backlog of way, WAY too many Bunnahabhains and review them. Recently, during a drunken discussion, or at least during a tipsy talk, Bunnahabhain came up. I won’t attempt to recreate it, as I may have been drinking. However I will say we came to some conclusions, of which I… Continue reading Bunnahabhain 8 2007 Hepburn’s Choice Single Cask

Speyside 43 1973 Maltbarn

Thanks to Igor for pouring this dram. Last year I was lucky enough to have tried the best whisky of the year according to Serge at Whisky Fun. That’s pretty cool. Because everyone has different opinions. So it’s interesting when we differ. There’s some reviewers where I wonder about their opinion. There’s no reviewers that agree with my thoughts exactly. What a nut job they would… Continue reading Speyside 43 1973 Maltbarn

Craigellachie 9 2007 Maltbarn

Thanks to Igor for pouring me a dram. When I first saw this Craigellachie, I was a little apprehensive. Not because the person who picked it isn’t good at picking whisky; he’s quite good at that. Rather the only Craigellachie’s I’ve had stood out because of the odd age statement, hipster packaging, or generally didn’t impress me much. Like that time I dressed up and… Continue reading Craigellachie 9 2007 Maltbarn

Balvenie 14 Peated Triple Cask

Thanks to whiskytanuki for taking the amazing pics at the recent tasting. I spoke in my previous review of a Balvenie of the experiments that started back in 2001 and how Balvenie got it’s groove back.. Wait, no, that was a woman who went to the Caribbean. Balvenie just decided to try peated things. The other release from Balvenie that uses their peated malt (that I tried… Continue reading Balvenie 14 Peated Triple Cask

Balvenie 14 2002 Peat Week

Thanks to whiskytanuki for taking the amazing pics at the recent tasting. With Spring slowly coming, we all do some spring cleaning. Well those of us who don’t show up on TLC reality shows do at least. For some distilleries, doing runs of unpeated whisky or peated whisky is very similar. They spring clean their distilleries with it. However Balvenie 14 2002 Peat Week is different, as it’d be… Continue reading Balvenie 14 2002 Peat Week

Balvenie 12 Single Barrel

Thanks to whiskytanuki for taking the amazing pics at the recent tasting. As the Balvenie tasting continued, I was very happy to see Balvenie 12 Single Barrel was part of it. Specifically a member on reddit had asked why I had never tried Balvenie 12 Single Barrel. Sadly the price is a bit up there at the LCBO, and as such, I hadn’t gotten the chance. The Single Barrels bottles… Continue reading Balvenie 12 Single Barrel
