Glenburgie 21yr IB (Archives 1995) – Review  21 years Bourbon hogshead 54.1% ABV   Glenburgie is one of the lesser known Speyside distilleries, despite not being widely known it produces over 4 million litres/year. The profile of the Glenburgie single casks I have tried in the past have been rather bold and interesting, hoping this one continues the trend.   Nose: Peaches, vanilla custard, apples, floral, … Continue reading Review: Archives Glenburgie 21 Year Single Cask

So when my wife and I went to the Isle of Arran and the distillery, I was quite excited to see they had some minis for sale of the standard expressions so I could see what the base spirit tastes like. Arran … Continue reading Arran Malt Standard Line-up: 10, 14, 18, 12CS

Review: Amrut Virgin Oak (Kensington Wine Market Exclusive)

Appearance: 1.8, Old Oak Nose: Caramel, chocolate, grainy, malty, menthol, rich oak, leather, ginger, pepper steak, almost some red stone fruits here too. Normally with Amrut single casks, you get mostly the core Amrut profile with an accent of the cask type, not so here. The Amrut profile is there, but it is dominated by a rich spice and sweetness. This is not an out … Continue reading Review: Amrut Virgin Oak (Kensington Wine Market Exclusive)

Review: Suntory Toki

Appearance: 0.2, Pale Straw Nose: Nice white fruit bouquet, white grapes, apple, peach, pear, lychee. Quite floral as well. Taste: Oaky dryness hit the sides of the tongue on the arrival, the floral and fruity elements from the nose continue into the taste. I get lychee, apple, pear, honeysuckle, vanilla, heather, honey. Really bursting with layers of fruitiness, backed up by a nice floral accent. Finish: … Continue reading Review: Suntory Toki
