This was my third review way back in 2013. it’s an oldie but a goodie and the Quarter Cask is still a bottle I have on the shelf at all times! (helps that it’s one of the few decent values at the LCBO too)
Laphroaig Quarter Cask – 48% ABV
- Appearance: light gold
- Nose: heavy peat, vanilla, strong medicinal alcohol burn in the sinuses
- Taste: iodine, peat, smoke, caramel, salt, burnt wood. a few drops of water bring out some spices, and softer floral notes.
- finish: long and lasting smoke, warming in the throat, seafood. smoke is subdued in the finish with water; woody flavours come through more. fruity notes in the long run.
love this one. it’s bold and strong, and makes no apologies.
Rating: 92/100

bit a water helps with this…. and most of the time I don’t think it helps….
