BenRiach 10 2009 Peated (Cask 584)

Thanks to?/u/devoz?for pouring me a dram. By some fluke I ended up with another peated, younger BenRiach. It’s almost like I know what I like when I ask for samples from other adults who pour me things that I take home. Where was I? Oh, yes.?BenRiach 10 2009 Peated, an ex-bourbon barrel single cask BenRiach bottled specifically for the Wee Rock Whisky Club, a BC… Continue reading BenRiach 10 2009 Peated (Cask 584)

BenRiach 19 1994 Single Cask Peated / Pedro Ximénez Sherry Finish [MYSTERY]

Thanks to /u/xile_ for pouring a dram of this. Now it’s time to be wrong again and try a mystery dram. Because if you don’t make it through the wall on running through it the first 20 times, then you haven’t hit your head hard enough. Head down, let’s do this. At least I got chicken. Alright so we originally told xile_ that we needed something a… Continue reading BenRiach 19 1994 Single Cask Peated / Pedro Ximénez Sherry Finish [MYSTERY]

BenRiach 15 1997 Single Cask Madeira Finish

Thanks to /u/devoz for sharing a dram of this with me. Okay, I think I’ve said this too many times. Feel free to comment if you feel otherwise. I enjoy BenRiach. A lot. I’ve had quite a few of their single cask offerings. I enjoy odd finishes. I used to think Madeira was a wine I didn’t like, turns out that was Marsala. I prefer BenRiach peated.… Continue reading BenRiach 15 1997 Single Cask Madeira Finish

BenRiach 22 1994 Peated Ex-Tokaji (Cask 4004)

Hey, so sometimes my numbers screw up. And by sometimes, I mean a lot. Seriously, my numbers should be fine. As such, I reviewed BenRiach 22 1994 Peated Ex-Tokaji (Cask 4004) as what I thought was right before the 750th, and then… well I did some mysteries, I did what I thought, etc. None the less, I shouldn’t consider this a bad thing. Let’s be honest, we… Continue reading BenRiach 22 1994 Peated Ex-Tokaji (Cask 4004)

BenRiach 14 1998 Single Cask Virgin American Oak Finish

Thanks to /u/devoz for this sample. Hey, look, it’s another BenRiach I’ve never had. Guess it’s time to write about how I’m a huge fanboy for them and that’s my bias. Glad that’s out of the way now. Maybe I should explain more for everyone who isn’t a voice in my head as I write this that can immediately get the inside jokes. I enjoy BenRiach… Continue reading BenRiach 14 1998 Single Cask Virgin American Oak Finish

Toronto Whisky Society’s <10yr/NAS Social Event

Looks like them Toronto Whisky Society boys (and ladies) are up to no good again folks. Just kidding, we’re always up to great good. It was a slightly windy day in First Spring when the TWS (owners of this here website and such) had a good ol’ tastin’. We headed to Dupont, set out the nicest crackers, dark chocolates, and cheesey-poofs, and invited everyone. Entry? Well … Continue reading Toronto Whisky Society’s <10yr/NAS Social Event

BenRiach 22 1992 Single Cask #976 Tawny Port Cask

Thanks to /u/charlesdobson for swapping me this sample. I can be obsessive. I played Magic: The Gathering (aka Cardboard Crack) for about a decade. And I had a good time for most of it. I collected cards, but never spent more than I had. See, only somewhat obsessive. Recently I wanted to play Mega Man. I don’t know why, I just wanted to. So I bought… Continue reading BenRiach 22 1992 Single Cask #976 Tawny Port Cask

Review: Battle of the Benriach 22 Single Casks! (Rum and Port)

Benriach 22 Cadenhead’s Rum Cask 1992 Appearance: 0.2, Pale Straw Nose: Rich barley sugar and cereal notes, some licorice, menthol, under-ripe pears. A bit flat in terms of depth and body. Taste: Quite malty and grainy, there is definitely a note of bitter molasses, hint of ash, orange blossom honey, vanilla and icing sugar, very faint spearmint note. Finish: Somewhat thin, the ash comes out … Continue reading Review: Battle of the Benriach 22 Single Casks! (Rum and Port)
